Sierra Leone in the 1970’s πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡±πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡±πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡±

I thought I would post a much older photo today. This is from Sierra Leone, in the early 1970’s. It was probably taken in or around Freetown as the fisherman is making his net. The last 30 years haven’t been kind to Sierra Leone, having suffered a brutal civil war and more recently the Ebola outbreak, but tourism is becoming easier and infrastructure such as new hotels are being built. A new airport is also in the works.

For anyone interested in visiting I recommend checking out Visit Sierra Leone, here.

For specific hotel information see The Place at Tokeh Beach or Tokeh Beach Resort which are both beach resorts. Radisson has a hotel in Freetown. VSL can help with all your questions.

Fun Fact: A weather fact – night time temperatures rarely drop below 24C or 75F! Day time temperatures are typically around 30C or 86F. The rainy season occurs during July and August.
