As this weekend is a holiday in many countries around the world, what better way to begin the official start to summer than with a road trip. This photo is the road from Mount Hood to Redmond, Oregon along highways 26 and 97. As you descend from the mountains and for trees around Mount Hood, it soon becomes apparent that you are in a rain shadow. Trees become more sparse and water becomes less obvious. By the time you reach Warm Springs, and onwards you can say you are in the high desert. Views of volcanoes such as Jefferson and the Three Sisters are in the distance. The canyon of the Deschutes River follows you around Warm Springs.
