Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire

Posted by

While Stratford upon Avon is famous for Shakespeare’s Birthplace and burial place and while Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Mary Arden’s House also are nearby, it is also lesser known that the grandfather of John Harvard, the founder of Harvard University, also built a house there. In fact, Ancient House was built by Thomas Rogers in 1596. It still stands at 26 High Street. Today it is preserved by the Birthplace Trust on behalf of Harvard University.

Fun Tip: Make sure to visit the Royal Shakespeare Theatre to see the whole of Stratford…Why? Because there is a tower you can climb that has wonderful views of Stratford and beyond.

The RSC website has all the tower info.
