Henley on Thames

Posted by

Henley-on-Thames near Reading is a lovely picturesque town situated on the banks of the River Thames. The Henley Regatta held every year in July. The regatta began in 1839 and became the Royal Regatta when Prince Albert became patron in 1851. But of course Henley is wonderful to visit at any time of year. Much of the center of Henley dates from Georgian times and the church is 18th century. Take a cruise on the river or sit and watch the boats sail by.

Fun fact: The River and Rowing Museum pays it’s rent in flowers. In fact just one rose paid to the Henley Town Council will pay their rent for the year!
